Hester Doove in Empirical Nonsense Daily
Bureau Doove is extremely excited to have been invited to participate in the wonderful Empirical Nonsense Daily. This project presents a different artist everyday since 1 August and will run until the end of July 2021.
Deee-Lite Lady Miss Kier, 1991 by Hester Doove
The first artist we present is portrait photographer Hester Doove to coincide with the publication of her book Music Portraits. The book gives an overview of the portraits she made of various musicians such as Seal, Barry White, Elvis Costello, Marianne Faithfull, Tori Amos, J.J.Cale, John Hiatt, Suzanne Vega, Joe Jackson, David Byrne, Lenny Kravitz, Susanna Hoffs, Robbie Robertson, Lisa Stansfield, Chris Isaak, Sonic Youth, Youssou N’Dour and Thom Yorke. It is the result of a collaboration with designer Jan van Mechelen of ZEE graphic design & typography. Music Portraits is published in English on 160 pages, format 22 x 26 cm with a preface by Dutch music journalist Leo Blokhuis. It can be ordered at Lecturis.
