Support Covers for the World: Art for a Cause

In line with Bureau Doove’s Mission statement, I’m pleased to launch a crowdfunding campaign with Pierre Mertens.

Together, we’re collaborating on a program of art events: Covers for the World. The first event coincides with the opening of Child-Help’s 16th House of Hope and the launch of its Global Knowledge Centre for Accessible Care during International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2025 in Moshi, Tanzania. That day Pierre Mertens and a group of local artists will jointly create a special work of art in the public space of Moshi.

As a contextual artist Pierre Merten’s work emerges in dialogue with society and challenges a world that, in its pursuit of perfection, leaves little room for vulnerability. From a memorial for deceased children in Africa to social art projects in Europe, he consistently creates images of meaning.

Since 2014, he has been making a daily drawing inspired by world news: Covers for the World. This growing art project supports his commitment to Child-Help, the organisation he founded to give children with disabilities in the Global South access to care. He has already created more than 4,000 drawings, on reproductions of existing works of art, each linked to current events.

To make the event in Moshi possible and draw more attention to the importance of supporting this cause, the drawings of Covers for the World will be used to fund a program of events, from which all proceeds will go to the knowledge centre.

Our goal is to raise €10,000 to cover travel and logistics, including art materials, and the payment of artists. Additional funds raised will support the work of Child-Help in the Global South.

Every contribution is welcome, but for a contribution of €100, you will receive a beautiful limited, signed, and numbered print:

And for a contribution of €500 or more, you can choose an original drawing (gallery value > €1000) from the Covers archive, which you can find here.

With your support, art becomes care, and every contribution helps give children with spina bifida and hydrocephalus access to a dignified life.

Thanks for donating generously and sharing the campaign.

We will update you regularly about the development of the event.
