Alongside working on the project Covers for the World, Pierre Mertens and I have also been busy with the translation and publication of his latest book Bare Together.

This incredibly touching account intertwines art, psychotherapy, and international solidarity. From the birth and loss of his daughter Liesje, born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, artist and psychotherapist Pierre Mertens traces a lifelong journey towards a vision of care that is both human and decolonial. His commitment has helped to save more than 100,000 children, among others, by establishing the organisation Child-Help International.
Bare Together invites the reader to slow down, to feel, and to reimagine care as an act of resistance—against indifference, against inequality, and against the colonial legacies that still shape how bodies, illness, and vulnerability are perceived. It is, above all, an invitation to show ourselves how we are.
You can now order the book as a paperback or Kindle edition via this link.
Bare Together will be officially presented on Wednesday, December 3, during the opening of the SHARE Global Knowledge Centre for Accessible Care in Moshi, Tanzania, when we will also unveil Covers for the World.
